Why We Shoot in Black and White: The Story of Mountain Refuge

Color can be a distraction. Sometimes the only way to show what a place really is, is to strip everything back.

Mountain Refuge is a portrait of a weathered log cabin set against dense wilderness — a structure that's survived a lot of winters. In color, it would have been a pretty picture. In black and white, it becomes something closer to a memory.

That's the difference we're always chasing: not a nice photo, but a true one.
